The Story of IBC

The IBC story isn’t the longest but it is full of major milestones and achievements over the past few years. Established in 2008 by Vick Patel, IBC started life working in the back office of a Builders Merchants in Finchley, London. 

Our routes began off the back of our sister companies desire to gain more buying power on core products that would allow them to compete with their competition. Our first members were from within the M25 but our growth meant that it wouldn’t be long until we found members further afield.

As our membership grew, so did our team and we soon out grew our back office location. We moved into our current premises in Welham Green in 2011 and have grown into a 16 strong team which includes our External and Internal Sales teams, our commercial and marketing teams and our accountancy team. 

These dedicated members of the IBC team are there to ensure all our members and suppliers needs are dealt with and that the relationships between our members and suppliers are as clear and transparent as possible.

Over the years IBC has seen a number of firsts come our way. We have established key working relationships with both the BMF and NMBS. In 2014 we introduced 50 IBC members to the BMF, showing the benefits that their organisation can offer the Independent Merchant. Our close relationships with NMBS allows us to bring the support our members require to run their business successfully.

With over 210 members across the UK, we have now established ourselves as a key voice in the industry and our strong relationships with the UK’s leading suppliers allows us to offer all the assets our members need to succeed.
