Catching up with Dave as he reflects on #TeamIBC’s progress

By March 28, 2021 No Comments

Today is Day 5 of the #IBCBikeChallenge, as IBC Buying Group’s Dave Robertson virtually cycles 980 miles – from one end of the UK to the other – to raise money for the Unitas Youth Zone.

So far, Dave has travelled an amazing 443.8 miles, supported by many other members of the #TeamIBC family as they take on their own challenges.

How are you and the team feeling?
We are all in good spirits and keeping each other motivated. Today will be our longest leg, as we virtually travel 116 miles between Haydock and Carlisle. I can’t thank the IBC Members and Key Suppliers enough for their continued support. So many people have joined us over the last few days to cycle or run alongside us, or to come and cheer us on, and it really is helping us on the way.

Why are you doing this challenge?
That’s a simple one to answer. Like many of the professional people who will get to read this, I can look back on my career and identify someone who truly believed in me and gave me an opportunity that made a real difference in my life. That’s what we wanted to do with the challenge – pay it forward and give other young people the chance to transform their lives.

The wonderful Unitas Youth Zone charity in Barnet affords so many of the local kids a safe and welcoming environment where they can socialise, get involved in exciting activities and learn new skills that will help them develop into confident and capable young people. We must remember, today’s youth will be the very people we will want to join our businesses in the future.

If, like me, you want to support and give others an opportunity – please donate at https://www.justgiving.com/team/TeamIBC – every penny we raise will really make a BIG difference to so many.
