2024 Member Research Results

2024 Member Research Results: Members rated their experience with IBC 8/10

As part of our member-first approach, earlier this year, we commissioned an independent research agency to speak to our members about their needs both now and in the future, to ensure that we continue to serve our members as best as we can.

We’ve summarised the findings below and some of our new initiatives in response to the results.

Background

As part of this project, we asked Zebra Square, an independent specialist research agency, to speak to our members on our behalf. We decided to use an independent agency who have worked with many well-known manufacturing and construction brands, so that we could ensure the quality of the data collected was of the highest integrity.

In total, 75 members participated in the research, which was conducted by 15-20 minute telephone interviews. All interviewees were either a decision maker on joining IBC or an individual who regularly dealt with IBC directly.

Key Findings

  • Top 3 most important factors to members:
    1. Clear & competitive pricing
    2. Feeling valued as a member
    3. Wide offering of supplier partners
  • Members rated their experience with IBC 8/10 & 89% of members associated IBC with the word ‘trust’
  • Two thirds of members regularly use IBC’s Member Portal & overall rated its ease of use 7/10
  • Overall members rated the importance of receiving promotional updates from IBC 8/10, whilst 92% wanted to receive these by email
  • On average, 8/10 members were interested in receiving marketing support from IBC
  • 30% of members use social media for work with the top 3 platforms being LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram

Outcomes

  • Our Category team is always focused on getting the best deals with our supplier partners, whilst this year there has been a greater focus on expanding the product range available to members. That’s why we have already introduced over 14 new supplier partners in 2024 with more to come. Plus, our Category Team is growing as we’ve recently recruited a Category Assistant Apprentice to further strengthen the IBC business

  • We’re working to enhance our portal for members and have already increased speed and performance. Our next priorities include improving how members can access supplier and product information, for an easier user-experience

  • We’re continuing to promote to our members how we can support them by creating marketing materials such as posters, flyers, web banners, and social posts to promote their deals to their customers. If you’d like support with marketing, then please contact your Business Development Manager

  • You told us how important it is to be kept up to date with the latest deals, offers, and supplier news, which is why we’re improving our communication on email and across our social channels to make sure you’re always up to date. Plus, we’ve recently refreshed our brand look and feel, which also influences how we present the information to you, to make sure it is clear and easy to read
